The Poomi Jensen Memorial Scholarship
The Okinawan Karate Do at the University of California , San Diego (UCSD) has established
the Poomi Jensen Memorial Scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship is to support full-time UCSD student athletes
who demonstrate the virtues of kindness, courage, perseverance, and spirit as Poomi displayed in his own life.
The Poomi Jensen scholarship was established to honor the 21-year old black belt Poomi Jensen
who perished in the 2004 South Asian tsunamis. The Thai prince began training at the age of six. Full of energy and
with a generous heart, he inspired everyone around him. He trained very hard and exemplified the spirit of karate.
